Why Contract Painting and Decorating Specialists for Remodeling?
Many people get inspired to start a DIY remodelling project. But nobody can accomplish a task like experts do. Sometimes the only reason why individuals undertake such projects themselves is because they want to save money. But if what you want is convenience, great results and to save time- you definitely require the aid of specialists. Depending on the type of project you decide to undertake, hiring experts may actually save you time and possibly money. If you hire professionals, they guarantee customer satisfaction, so if something does go wrong they will fix it with no additional costs.
Specialised Equipment and Tools
Experienced decorators are tradesmen with access to some of the most sophisticated equipment, machinery and tools required to complete projects in a timely manner, without compromising quality and value. As an individual, your access to such resources is often limited. If you want, you could rent tools for home decorating and painting, but that means spending more than what you could afford, not to mention spending time in familiarising with the handling of such tools. As with most cases, the quality of tools is secondary to the level of expertise.
Unparalleled Expertise in the Field
There's no one more experienced and more skilled in the art of painting and decorating than someone who is in the industry for quite some time, who has done a good number of projects with satisfactory results. If you are into DIY with very basic skills and very basic tools, you couldn't expect to achieve promising outcomes. Whilst there are tools that make DIY painting a lot simpler, but these tools often limit the way you decorate, as in the case of stencils. Plus, there's always an edge to a well-applied coat of paint, something only experts can do.
Guarantee, Insurance and License
If you undertake a DIY remodelling project, it is important to consider possible mistakes and waste expenses. On the contrary, painting contractors carry guarantee and insurance to assure you of the quality of their service. Most, if not all, decorating tradesmen offer you some form of guarantee in case you aren't satisfied with their work. Contract violation on their part may entitle you to have an option not to pay them, instead they would pay you.
Well-Rounded Services, Continuity
Contractors not only paint and decorate your house, but they also do a bunch of other inter-related tasks such as: provide you with painting and decorating tips, clean up and do preparatory work. These professionals are trained to do their job without causing much distraction or interruption to you, especially in cases when you continue to use other areas of the building during the remodelling project. And as you would expect, undertaking a DIY remodelling project requires you to set aside any other activities to make time for planning, preparing and then finally painting and decorating. If you have a lot of time on your hands and can afford making mistakes, then you can attempt such projects, otherwise it is always smart to put such responsibilities in the hands of expert painters and decorators.

Things to Consider Before Deciding to Undertake Your Own Painting and Decorating
Decorating your home yourself can be fun, but it is also time consuming and if it is done wrong you may need to go ahead and hire someone to do the job right. Painters and decorators have experience to know what will work best for your decorating needs.
What your painting contractor will need to know about the job
Before you talk to painting contractors you need to know some things about the job so you can provide important information they will need for planning the staff, supplies and schedule.
· Which walls is the contractor painting? Inside, outside, a particular room or wall? How tall are the walls? If ladders are needed they will need to prepare for that.
· What kind of walls are going to be painted (bare walls, stucco, wooden)? This is important because if it is a fresh unpainted surface for example, primer will be needed. Depending on the colour chosen for the paint, the primer may need to be tinted. Or if a home's previous owner had wall paper; you will need to indicate if the paper will have to be removed before painting. Just the removal of wall-paper changes the scope of the job with different supplies, particular staff skilled for the job and supplies needed.
· When does the job need to be completed? This is an obvious question that homeowners do not always think of when they are in the throes of planning. The job may seem so simple to slap some paint on the wall, but the devil is in the details and does not always wear a watch. You should be able to let him know when you want the job done so he can plan his schedule.
Of course, there are other questions but these are three basic ones to start the conversation. You should prepare a list of details about the job before you even begin to look into interviewing painting and decorating companies. The decision making process is hard if you do not know about their business requirements, who is skilled to do the job, or how to protect your home when they are working in it.
Start the conversation with these basic questions:
· Are you licensed or certified for home decorating and painting?
· Are you bonded and insured against onsite injuries or home damage?
· Do you have references from past clients I can see and talk to about your work?
Plan your next decorating job in your home with a list of prepared questions and answers so that everyone knows what is expected before they even get started on the job.

The Purpose of Painting and Decorating
The purpose of painting and decorating your house is to transform your closest environment; the space where you are living and where you and your family are spending most of your relax time. The way you could paint and decorate your house is infinite, there are some general styles you could decide to follow in painting and decorating, but you can add your own ideas and taste to it. So the first thing you should do in deciding how you are going to paint and decorate your house is to choose which idea or message your home needs to communicate. What do you want your house to say? "I'm modern and simple", "I am young and full of style" or, "I have an artistic touch". Whether your house is in the city centre, is old or brand new, you could always give it a general message by painting and decorating it properly.
There are thousands of ways to do this, but the first thing is to choose this main idea that need to be followed homogeneously in the entire living space and this could mean also in the external locations of your home, because painting and decorating does not stop only on the "choosing the colours of your walls", it means also to add accessories that match with the colours and decorations that you are giving to your house. The accessories can be posters, pictures, carpets, ornaments, the style of your garden and the right fittings for your bathroom and kitchen.
So why should you have to re-design your home if you have already invested in a decent space when you bought it?.
Current studies on the effect of ones home to his general operating ability in life show a direct comparison. The state, image and communication of the home tells a lot about you, your standards and your ideas in life. Does your home match your ideas and style? When you see beautiful house photos online or in a magazine are you thinking, "I would like to have a house like that one?" Painting and decorating can go a long way; you do not need to invest in a huge structural change or home modification.
So why wait? Just end of with the thinking and wishing and start to change your environment. Why conform to it? Change it. With a little touch of paint and a few ornaments which have a colour harmony you can do anything. You will feel a lot better about yourself and your family if you have a home around you which you feel comfortable in. Painting and decorating is a simple process. It just needs some foresight and a little planning by going through magazines, interior design blogs and paint supplier websites.

The Importance of Engaging a Competent Painter and Decorator
Decorating our home is about very much more than just putting some paint on a wall, or hanging sticky strips of wallpaper and attempting painstakingly to get the joins along each strip to collate with the next.
Of course this is all an integral part of the art of painting and decorating, but there is so much more to it than simply this. A room is only decorated on the rarest of occasions and so if we want it to look at its best it is always worth taking on the services of a real expert in the field.
When painting the exterior of our home in particular there is very much more to it than just gratuitously applying on a layer of paint. Surfaces can become weathered, damaged and uneven. If the fresh paint is to look its best and survive the course these surfaces need to be treated and restored to a level finish. Accuracy is vitally important, our windows are for us to look out of without having to espy arbitrary drips and splashes of gloss paint all across them.
And then there is the plastering, tiling and sometimes even floor sanding. A skilled decorator will have the ability to perform all these tasks in a professional manner. There is no point in a hired hand being able to paint a wall if the tiles around the wall are not correctly fitted, or indeed if there are holes in the wall that are left unfilled. Emulsion does not hide these away and placing wallpaper over them does not make them disappear.
Expert general building work or restoration may in some cases also need to be done. It makes good logical sense to attend to these issues whilst one is decorating rather than creating more upheaval again after the event. Painters and decorators will have the means to attend to this additional work, whether by performing it themselves or by bringing in the services of a professional in the field with whom they might have a working arrangement. Painting and decorating is a competitive business and the customer is able to make an informed decision by asking questions and seeking referrals.
A good decorator will have insurance, provide a guarantee on all work undertaken and have a provable track record of satisfactory work undertaken elsewhere that can easily be checked and confirmed.
Your home is your pride and joy, your castle. It is where you entertain and where you live from onr day to the next. It is most essential for your peace of mind that you are able to feel comfortable and relaxed whenever in the home you are.
A bad decorating job is difficult, time-consuming and often expensive to rectify. An expert touch from a painter and decorator upon whom you know you can rely enables you to have peace of mind whilst the process of transforming your home is underway.

Several Pointers For Painting and Decorating Your Home
Growing up, I had a good friend named Reggie who lived in a house that was always clean, always well decorated. Due to this fact, painting and decorating has always come easy for me.
His mom liked to do a quick re-paint of their whole house every spring. She and Reggie (his dad died when he was young) would take a whole week to give everything a fresh coat of paint. His mom was a very clean women. She was raised on a farm and I guess people back then farm kids were raised well.
Because my best friend and his mom would take a few days to go throughout the house painting, no doubt this made an impression on me. I would come into the kitchen or go through their house and everything was nice and new. A nice lifestyle. Something painting decorating is all about - it adds flavor to our lives.
As I got older and found a wife, I moved into one of my grandfathers apartments. I noticed that he was a good painter also. He painted white ceilings with pastel color walls and the woodwork trim was enameled white also. So from these two experiences alone I learned how to be a good painter decorator.
Basically if I was to do a custom interior paint job, I would get custom color charts from the paint store. Paint stores have historical custom color charts with three-color schemes. This helps to take the guesswork out of matching and choosing colors as well as planning out a color scheme for each room.
From there all you have to do is pick your curtains, bedspreads, carpeting, rugs etc. and match them to your new paint job. That's basically all there is to doing interior decorating as far as I see it. Then comes the talent. Some people have a knack for putting colors together that it looks really good.
If you just moved into a new house and there is existing carpeting that you don't want to change, tile floors, stained woodwork or painted woodwork that you plan on keeping the same, you simply have to match up new colors to those existing items.
I painted for an interior decorator off and on for a few years until they moved to another city. I painted most of her house inside and some of the outside. She had a real knack for pictures, wallpaper and furniture. She also had the money to do it all.
Painting decorating the outside of your home can be mentioned here also. There are exterior custom color charts that show three-color patterns or scenarios, even historical colors.
It can get rather pricey to live life at its best when it comes to painting and decorating your home. If you do a little bit at a time it can be a fun hobby. One thing that I highly recommend as a painter decorator is to use quality paints and wall coverings. Never skimp on these things. After all, why waste your precious time and resources on inferior materials? Especially if you have to live with it.
I like to see people put different colors in every room so that every room that you enter is a treat to the eyes and the emotions. I like to see colors that gradually flow from one room to the next gracefully. It's the little things like that that create the nicer lifestyle. There is power in color. Colors effect our moods.
Some people that I have painted for will put the same drab color in every room throughout the house as if they got a special deal on the paint or something. And some people never paint any rooms until they move out. They never get to enjoy the paint job.
Now I'm not all that good at choosing colors. I remember a friend in school that had some of those doodle art pens and was coloring a psychedelic VW Beetle. All his colors he chose were amazing. They all went together so well and they were bright.
As long as I use a custom color matching chart from the paint store I can do a pretty good job when painting and decorating houses. Nonetheless some people have real knack for making awesome colors flow.

Painting and Decorating Techniques: Dragging
To create a feeling of luxurious silk or designer wallpaper "faux dragging" can be applied on the majority of adequately smooth and readied surfaces. Whilst it is a fairly easy technique to actually learn it creates enormous benefits to the overall painting and decorating project as the finishes are both luxurious and stunning.
A huge number of different glazes and latex paints can be used to create the "faux dragging" effect but we would always suggest using an oil based paint or glaze as it will give your more leeway in terms of trying to manipulate it into the requisite styles as non-oil based ones can dry extremely quickly. This best thing about this technique is that not only does it work on walls and ceilings but it can easily be applied to most types of woodwork and furniture.
The effect is created when a dry brush is pulled through a coloured glaze. In doing so the base colour is revealed in very fine lines, which make the wall's look like silk fabric. Dragging is most effective in soft colours such as pastels, over a white base coat. You can also use a cream or off-white base with tan or taupe colours to create a "vintage" look.
So here are the steps you need to take to perform "faux dragging":
Apply the two coats of a latex base coat (white or off-white). After painting both coats, let the wall dry for at least two hours.
Mix satin latex paint with latex glazing liquid according to the instructions n the package of the glazing liquid.
Apply the coloured glaze to a workable length of surface.
Start at one end and pull a 4" dragging brush (or any long bristled brush) through the wet glaze. You can also perform this technique using a dry rag. Repeat several times to get the desired effect. Keep your hand as steady as you can as you drag.
Also note that if you are actually working with the full height of a wall from ceiling to base board, you can use a very wide brush, such as a wallpaper brush or even the wide end of a broom.
Repeat steps 3 & 4 on the next area. Clean the dragging brush on a rag before dragging the next area.
If applying the dragging finish to woodwork or trim, apply a coat of varnish, after the finish is dry.

Painting and Decorating Services: 15 Top Tips
Painting and decorating services is one of those provisions that we all consider and use at some time. It may be when you have just moved house or when you fancy a makeover, bringing your house up to date or when you are just looking for a change to your current décor.
Painting and decorating services differ widely in terms of their skill-base, prices and customer service but all offer largely the same thing in terms of product. All painting and decorating services will, as the title suggests) paint and decorate. However, the ways in which they do it, the skill level, qualification, accreditation, prices, customer service, guarantees, and likability can all differ greatly.
This is why it is important that you have confidence in the painting and decorating service you hire to carry out the work you want. All too many mistakes are made when hiring a good painter and decorator and all too many people go either for an odd-job man, a 'cowboy' or amateur. Far better you be sure about who you are hiring. So here are some key questions you need to ask before you commit to a provider:
1. Do they understand the job that you want doing? If it is complex then explain it clearly and make sure they know what you want.
2. Does the person have the requisite skills and ability to do the job - how do you know?
3. Make sure your service provider has either accreditations or qualifications that testify to their ability. Or that they are a member of a recognized association like the Painting and Decorating Association
4. Don't assume that because they don't have up to date qualifications that they aren't good at their job they may have just neglected this - find out.
5. Do they have references or examples of work they can show you that demonstrate the quality of their work?
6. Do they offer a guarantee for the work they do? What is it?
7. Seek out several quotes for the work you want doing. Don't necessarily go for the cheapest - see what they offer first.
8. If the painter and decorator is a 'one man' business then find out how many other jobs he has going on at the same time. If there are too many then they might find it difficult to complete your job in one go or they may take a long time. If there aren't any then try to find out why - are they just not busy at the moment or is there another reason?
9. Do they appear on a local authority list of certified providers?
10. Don't assume that the most expensive quote will be the best, and likewise don't assume that the cheapest won't be good.
11. If you have a busy lifestyle either through work or children that they can work flexibly.
12. If you have to leave them alone in your house don't leave valuables around. Niether assume that you can't trust them. The vast majority are like you - perfectly law abiding.

Painting And Decorating Made Easy
Painting is a quick and straightforward way of decorating your property. Pound for pound, paint will be the quickest, easiest and most economical redecorating option. Combining new colours and decorative techniques on the ceilings, walls and trim could make your property come alive again.
The first step is to prepare the surface ready to paint. This important first step will save you tremendous amounts of time later. The surfaces have to be smooth, cleaned and primed. Preparation will tremendously influence the ultimate result. Colour washing is often a subtle, elegant and simple finish to master. It is a type of antiquing with your goal to make the wall looking old. Colour washing works well on textured walls as well as smooth walls. The painter would casually and lightly brush translucent coats of slightly differing colours over a base coat. To reinforce the effect, use much more one glaze colour and work it in slightly. A darker shade of glaze should be added all around the perimeter of the wall along with the room corners. It's a great idea to work with a partner when adding a wash on the wall. It will help to speed the process as well as helping to eliminate washing in an unconscious pattern.
Faux leather is a technique that achieves the look of leather or parchment. Natural leather does have imperfections, so, do not be afraid if faux leather has has the same. First a base coat is painted over the wall and allowed to dry, followed by a glaze. Before the glaze dries, thin plastic bags or sheets are used to take away the wet glaze. This step creates a subtle texture and calming finish.
Ragging is used to produce a diverse texture. It will help conceal an uneven surface. First a solid colour base coat of paint is applied to the surface and allowed to dry. Then a layer of glaze is applied with some of it removed before it dries. Roll a dry, loosely wrapped rag through the glaze to generate the desired texture. Various textures can be created depending on the texture of the rag used. Cotton tee-shirts work best, but rags can also be purchased at home or car centres. When choosing colours for the base coat and glaze, choose colours that are close on the colour wheel.
Doors and windows are manufactured using the lengths of timber with grain patterns that inevitably run in numerous directions. To accomplish an excellent, professional-looking finish, free from brush marks, you need to paint them in the sequence that takes account of the grain. Think in advance when painting windows using the oil-based paints, as they could take longer to dry than you think. Or use water-based paint, that dries more rapidly and releases much less odour and fumes.
An important step in painting is to enjoy yourself and take your time. Quite often you may find that the more fun you have, the greatest the final result will turn out. The end product will certainly be well worth the wait.
